What’s Included?

Each Shure PGA48 hire includes one Shure PGA48 microphone, one compatible microphone clip and one 6-metre XLR cable.

A microphone stand can be added separately when you need the microphone positioned for hands-free use. Additional XLR cabling is also available where the microphone needs to be located further from the mixer or other compatible audio equipment.

Remember that the microphone itself does not provide amplification for an audience. It needs to be connected to an appropriate PA system. Audio Hire can provide professional two-speaker PA packages, mixers and the supporting equipment required to create a complete setup.

Shure PGA48 or Shure SM58?

Audio Hire offers both the Shure PGA48 and Shure SM58 wired microphones, and the better choice depends primarily on the application.

The PGA48 is a practical option when clear speech is the main requirement. Wedding speeches, presentations, announcements, quiz nights, meetings and MC duties are all situations where it fits naturally.

The Shure SM58 is our stronger choice when live vocals and singing are a significant part of the requirement. It is also suitable for speech, but its established role as a professional live vocal microphone makes it particularly appropriate for singers and performers.

If your primary requirement is speech, start with the PGA48. If the microphone will primarily be used for live vocals, consider the SM58.
